Leanna Baker (she/her)
Registered Provisional Psychologist
Memberships:
College of Alberta Psychologists, Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association
Specialties:
I bring a strong foundation and growing passion for somatically based approaches that support feelings of safety, connection, and attunement with oneself and others. Somatic therapy involves noticing how emotions and experiences show up in the body, and using that awareness to support healing, regulation, and personal insight. This approach can be especially helpful for people navigating trauma, anxiety, chronic pain, or relationship challenges. I also have a particular interest in supporting families through situations like co-parenting, blended family life, and navigating different parenting styles, where communication and emotional safety matter.
Professional Approach:
I believe that therapy works best when it feels safe, respectful, and collaborative. My style is warm and down-to-earth, with a focus on understanding the full person and building a trusting relationship. I draw on approaches and interventions from Polyvagal Theory, Narrative Therapy, and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and I often bring in somatically based tools to help people feel more grounded and regulated. Before becoming a provisional psychologist, I spent over ten years working with youth and families, which shaped my strengths-based and relational approach.
Training:
I’m currently completing my Somatic Embodiment Yoga Teacher Training, which helps me bring mind-body awareness and nervous system support into therapy. I also have training in Narrative Therapy, and I continue to learn and grow in areas related to trauma, the nervous system, and body-mind connection.
A bit about me:
I was born and raised in Calgary and still feel grounded by the mountains nearby. I have a deep curiosity for life that has led me to explore several roles such as landscaper, construction labourer, tree planter, and electrician. I’m also a proud co-parent, a bonus-parent, and a cat-mom. Along the way, yoga and other mind-body practices have become personal anchors and now shape how I support others. When I’m not working, I love heading out on road trips, especially to visit Alberta and BC’s quirky “world’s biggest” roadside monuments.
Availability:
In-person Sundays (10am–5pm) and Mondays (3pm–8pm), with virtual availability on select other days.

A bit about me: I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. I have four children, who are now teenagers and young adults. Before I had children, I was a Legal Assistant and worked in litigation. Through raising my own children, and my experience working with families throughout the years as an In-Home Family Support Worker, I have been honoured to work with adults, youth, and children of all abilities. I resonate and advocate for parents raising children with additional needs. I have enjoyed watching families learn how to connect and communicate with each other and assist them in obtaining the resources they need to succeed.
When I am not working, I tend to be at home with my family. Since my husband and I are in the phase of raising teenagers and young adults, we decided to adopt a few puppies a couple of years ago and they keep us all busy!
